Bellmere Winds Resort Review

Bellmere Winds Resort Review

I just came back from Bellmere Winds Resort in the Kawarthas with my family! We had a wonderful time. Bellmere Winds is one of the properties owned by Great Blue Resorts.

OUR COTTAGE
3 Bedroom Cottage (1 St. George Lane)
Our cottage was equipped with a family room with pull out couch and a television with access to Netflix, Prime and Disney Plus. It had a full kitchen with a gas stove, and a counter with chairs. Bedroom one had a queen bed, bedroom two had a double bed, and bedroom three had a bunk bed. There was one bathroom with a shower.
Our cottage came with a fire pit and fire wood to make a camp fire. We also had a bbq outside.

RESORT AMENITIES INCLUDED
Recreation
We took a drive down to the main recreation centre. There is a laundry room and fitness room inside. On the outside, there is a splash pad, swimming pool, multi sports court (tennis, basketball, soccer) and a park.

Beach
The beach is a minute walk away from the recreational area. There are kayaks and canoes to enjoy by the water. We saw people fishing on the lake. The beach itself is a small sandy area with Muskoka chairs which gives you a beautiful view of rice lake.

Family Activities
The resort has staff led family activities such as bingo and crafts for the kids.

RESORT AMENTITIES NOT INCLUDED
Golf
Bellmere has a beautiful golf course overlooking Rice Lake. Playing a round of golf is an extra cost. Your game comes with a golf cart. Since my husband loves to golf, him and my father-in-law took the kids to play. They had a great time.

Store
The resort has a store that sells small snacks, water, non-alcoholic, and alcoholic beverages.

Restaurant
There is a small restaurant overlooking the greens with patio seating. We went there one day for lunch. They sell hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, and grilled chicken sandwiches.

FOOD
We brought our own groceries for most meals. There is a full kitchen and bbq so it is easy to cook at the cottage. We ate one meal at their restaurant for lunch and went into Hastings one night for dinner.

TIPS BEFORE YOU GO
* You have to bring your own towels, pillows, and bedding up with you. This time I brought the blankets and sheets with us this time, but last time when we went to Lantern Bay Resort, I brought each of us a sleeping bag and that worked too. There is less to bring and less to wash after.

* Purchase your groceries in advance for the weekend. They don’t have a lot of  food stores directly in the area.

* Book weekdays in June if your kids can miss school. We stayed over the May long weekend but decided to stay an extra night and let the kids miss a day of school. On the weekday, the place was empty! We had the pool, beach and recreation centre to ourselves.
