During the winter break, we spent a few days up north in Huntsville, Ontario at Deerhurst Resort. We have been to Deerhurst countless times, but this by far was the best winter weather we could have asked for! You could see the beautiful snow surrounding the resort, but it was above zero degrees! We actually enjoyed being outside and did not get frost bitten!
Did you know that Deerhurst allows dogs to stay in the main building? We just got a new puppy named Lois and we were so excited to include her on our vacation.
My two children Brooklyn (10) and Bentley (8) gave their own reviews for our recent Deerhurst trip. I let them write it in their own words. I only make adjustments if the sentence is difficult to understand. I hope you enjoy their reviews and find them helpful.
BROOKLYN’S RESORT REVIEW
RESTAURANTS
I personally loved the restaurants at Deerhurst. I loved the Maple Pub downstairs in the building. I ate dinner there. I had chicken fingers and fries and they were delicious.
The Compass Grill restaurant is good. I like going there at night time so I can have a dessert and listen to live music.
The Eclipse buffet was good. I preferred the buffet for breakfast but you can have it for any meal. I like the home fries, fried eggs, and the chocolate milk.
ROOM
I like the rooms there. My hotel room was clean and I look for that in hotel rooms. My room had two beds and a TV. The beds are definitely comfortable. I am happy that they allow dogs because I have a dog who came along with us.
INDOOR ACTIVITIES
They have a lot of activities. I got to play in the arcade and I won a prize. I also liked the indoor playground inside. I like the arts and crafts activities that we did.
OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
I got to go kick sledding and it was very fun, because I stepped out of my comfort zone.
FAVOURITE TRIP MEMORY
My favourite memory was that I got to have so much fun with my dog Lois, and it was her first trip!

Brooklyn is 10 years old in Grade 5. She loves to read, write, draw, watch YouTube, and hang out with her friends. Her favourite TV show is Sponge Bob Square Pants and her favourite musician is Ariana Grande!
BENTLEY’S RESORT REVIEW
RESTAURANTS
My favourite restaurant was the Compass Grill because the food was amazing. I ate cheese fondue with bread and veggies. I drank eggnog for snack and sat at the bar and watched the baseball game with my dad.
ROOM
My room was nice. It had two comfy beds and a tv, and chair.
INDOOR ACTIVITIES
I liked the arcade because I played different games and won lots of tickets to get toys. I also liked the playground because I was playing with my sister on the slide.
OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
My favourite thing I did was kick sledding because I went really fast down a hill. I went cross country skiing with my dad. I fell a few times but it was awesome. It is easy to put on the skiis.
FAVOURITE TRIP MEMORY
My favourite memory was with my parents and sister, drinking hot chocolate at the bar watching the basketball game.
ABOUT BENTLEY
Bentley is 8 years old in Grade 3. He loves to play and watch basketball, baseball, and hockey. He loves watching YouTube. His favourite TV show is Victorious and his favourite musical group is Imagine Dragons!
