After 4 years of hosting New Years Eve parties with my partner Shira, this year was our favourite! The reason is we decided to make it more formal and fun! We used a banquet hall venue and it really was a success!
We held our event at the Pickle Barrel Markville Mall in Markham! They have a great banquet hall that fits 180 people. We decorated the tables with gold and black new years balloons. Each table had crafts, New Years hats and necklaces. To keep our sanity, we saved the blowers for the end.
Here is how the night went!
Everyone arrived at 4:30pm! For the first 1.5 hours, families could do crafts at the table, get twisted balloons from D Jay Entertainment, get face painted by Lucia, and use the magic mirrored photo booth by Enchanted Booth! During this time, the amazing D Jay put on a super fun magic show for the kids. The room was so quiet! The kids were sitting on the dance floor watching the show while most parents could relax at the table!
From 5:45pm-6:30pm, we had a tasty dinner buffet which was catered by the Pickle Barrel Restaurant. The buffet had kale salad, a fruity slaw salad, bread, chicken fingers, BBQ chicken, fries, grilled veggies, alfredo penne pasta, tomato penne pasta, and potatoes. Soda, virgin Shirley temples, coffee, and tea were unlimited. We also had a cash bar, which was a hit for the parents.
From 6:30pm-7pm, we had a game of family bingo. If a child won, they were able to come up to the stage and pick from some amazing board game prize packs. During this time we also had dessert. The dessert included fruit, cookies, mini desserts and cake!
From 7pm-7:30pm, our amazing mc from Bounce Entertainment Tiffany hosted a fun game of pass the present. When the music stopped, the child who had the present in their hand, had to open a layer of wrapping paper. We decided to put a present in every layer, so we had more winners! The kids absolutely loved it.
At 7:30, we did a quick raffle draw. All of the proceeds from the draw went to Camp Erin. This is a charity that sends kids to camp who are grieving a loss of a parent or sibling. There are grief counsellors on site helping them along the way.
Our charity prizes were great. Some of the prizes included: Funtastic Forest passes, Happy Place passes, Disney On Ice Tickets, Toys, Second City passes and more!
I wanted to mention that the face painting and balloon twisting ran until the end. Lucia is an incredible face painter! One of the best I have ever seen. Each face was like a canvas! D Jay was great at creating balloon characters too!
With 20 minutes to go, we had a dance party with Bounce Entertainment! We were throwing tons of prizes into the crowd for the kids. Tiffany from Bounce is beyond incredible. Her energy and enthusiasm kept everyone on their feet. At the end, each kid got a balloon (courtesy of D Jay) and launched them into the air.
At the end of the event, everyone picked up swag bags on the way out! They were filled with lots of goodies. A cell phone charger bank, Sky Zone jump passes, a stuffed animal, and candy were some of the fun items that were in the bag! I saw families who cleaned house between bingo, the raffle, dance party, and then the swags!
What was so amazing, was that a 2 year old and a 12 year old could both have fun! I want to thank Shira Lev for your amazing work! Our husbands Darren and Sol do not go unnoticed either! They worked just as hard!
We will 100% be doing this next year! We are going to go bigger next year to accommodate more of you!
