Today is my ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY for Entertain Kids On A Dime!
See below my first ever VIDEO BLOG POST 🙂
PS-I have no idea what my son is saying. [wpvideo p18XgsHA] I am so excited that today is the ANNIVERSARY of ENTERTAIN KIDS ON A DIME!
On this date last year, I wrote my first blog post and started my Entertain Kids On A Dime Facebook Group!
I truly believe that when you love something and work hard, that it will all pay off in the end.
Not only have I been able to help others, but I have learned so much from my readers.
I am on my blog and Facebook group every single day. My cell phone comes with me on all vacations, day trips, and when I am sick in bed. I have not missed a weekly calendar post this whole year. Yup! I even sent one from Turks & Caicos.
WHERE I WAS A YEAR AGO
AÂ year ago, I was a stay at home Mother and became very bored as my 2 year old son was becoming more independent.
I had my daughter at school half day, and my son was home with me. Keeping my son busy in the mornings was getting expensive, so I had to find fun things to do at a low cost.
I began to make lists of cheap and free local programs and would share them with my friends. Then one day a light bulb went off. I thought, how cool would it be to start writing a blog about how to entertain your kids without breaking the bank?
I made a list of crafts to do, and began my journey. Now today, I can stay home with my kids but still do something that I love.
MY FAMILY
*THE HUBBY
I give my husband Darren a lot of credit. I always disappear after dinner and pop back and fourth from the computer, just as my kids need to be put to bed. Sometimes he isn’t too happy but I always tell him that night time is prime time!
I have also taken over his office! I use it much more than him now. I am fortunate to be married to him because he believed in my idea and has supported everything I have done thus far. So for that I say thank you!
*MY KIDS
My two children Brooklyn and Bentley have enjoyed all of the “fun” things they get to do because of my blog. When we cook, do crafts, and experiments, they are always happy to participate.
Their favourite thing to do is attend my blog events. They call them “Mommy’s Blog Parties!” and they love coming to help me. My kids have even stood outside their schools handing out flyers with me. They are the reason I write this blog!

GREAT WOLF LODGE CRAZE
When I called Great Wolf Lodge to get a group rate, they told me in order for the deal to go through, the group would have to buy 10 rooms. I gave it a shot and I couldn’t believe my eyes. In the first night that I posted, all 10 rooms were sold out. The next day I put out 10 more rooms and they were gone. The third day I posted the last set of 10 rooms. With in a few days, they were gone!
I have decided for the good of the group to get monthly Great Wolf Lodge room rates. I choose the cheapest Friday room rate for each month, and our group sells out now 40-50 rooms per month! Crazy stuff!
I got the group a Deerhurst March Break Room Rate and hope to get more hotels on board to do discounts for our readers.
ENTERTAIN KIDS COUPON PAGE
I saw the need for deals, and I started contacting Entertainment Companies. I was so proud to start my coupon page in October 2014.
This May 2015, will mark my third round of Coupons. I am proud that even some of Toronto’s largest Attractions are apart of my page!
EXCLUSIVE EVENTS
Throwing events was always fun for me, but I never really pictured myself doing this until now!
I partnered up with Yogurtys Autumn Hill in Thornhill to do some Adult Events: Valentines Day Ladies Night Out, VarageSale Ladies Night and a Business Networking Event.
I had also hosted two Kids Events at Yogurtys: Breakfast With Elsa and a Family Day Charity Event supporting Sarah’s Drive For Hope.
My biggest achievement was The Holiday Party I threw in December 2014. The event was sold out a month in advance with 600 people.
I worked like a dog but the day turned out perfect!
TO THE BLOG READERS AND FACEBOOK GROUP MEMBERS!
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for being a part of this amazing group.
This has become a positive community of supportive Parents. We all share the same common goal, which is to spend time with our Kids!
XOXO
