*Haunted House (Milton)
12pm-5pm
Inside Milton Mall (accross from Stiches)
55 Ontario Street South
Milton, ON

The Milton Haunted House first started out as a Milton neighbourhood attraction in 2006, set up at the home of a local Milton Town Councillor. As it grew in size and popularity threatening to take over the house, the councillor’s spouse gave an ultimatum, either it or the councillor had to move to a new home. With the help of a team of volunteers and the community-minded shopping centre Milton Mall it moved into its new semi-permanent location inside the Mall in 2011.
One of the unique features of the Milton Haunted House is that it is designed to be suitable for all ages offering both a scream-fest version for teens and adults as well as gentle but slightly spooky adventure for young children.
To date the initiative has raised over $60,000 which goes towards the Milton District Hospital Foundation, to help with the purchase of new medical equipment and facility improvements. Each year a team of over 75 volunteers, many of them local Milton High School students, setup the temporary walls, rooms and interior corridors that make up the ever growing haunt that then gets filled with animatronic creations, frightful scenery and dramatic scary actors.
In addition to the Haunted House, there are silent auctions, pumpkins, face painting and local super heroes to entertain the crowds lining up to enter.

OCTOBER FREE & CHEAP EVENTS (October 14-16, 2016)
OCTOBER FREE & CHEAP EVENTS (October 14-16, 2016)

Hi Everyone!

Sorry for the late post tonight! I have spent the last two days trying to clean up 7 years worth of toys from my kids. I am finally having a garage sale. I have been literally running up and down from my top floor to my basement trying to put back my kid’s toys together. What a nightmare! I am sure many of you can understand this. I think if I see a Toys R Us in the next week, it may bring on a panic attack. LOL!

On to some good Coupon News!

The Halloween Coupon turned out very successful. A lot of you used the Coupon which is very good! I am happy that many of you were able to save for your kid’s costumes. What this means, is that we can now show other Companies how we have a need in our group. I am now working with a Company called FS Local. They are amazing to deal with and they completely understand what this Community of Parents is all about. They are the ones that will be negotiating the Coupons for us, and the owner has tons of experience with this. They are also making my website more animated and coupon friendly! We hope to officially launch in December! I may get some little deals here and there before this time frame.

I will keep everyone posted!

Have a great weekend!

Jennifer (I hate toys) Stallman

SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER FREE & CHEAP EVENTS (September 30- October 2, 2016)
SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER FREE & CHEAP EVENTS (September 30- October 2, 2016)

I decided to get a little crafty yesterday and made my 6 year old daughter a GUM BALL MACHINE Costume for Halloween.

14523271_10103326659485010_5348896622412647095_n

All of the items are from Dollarama!

14516541_10103326660637700_7002569178344299164_n

ITEMS USED

•My old white tank (it will be big and can go over a sweatshirt or jacket)
• Red Hat – $4 (I cut the hair. I could have saved money and bought a red beenie hat but it wasn’t as cute)
• Coloured plastic balls– $2.50
• Apron -$1.50
• Metalic paper -$1.50
• Plastic Vacuum bag- $1.50 (Or use can use strong cellophane)
• You need a black marker, masking tape, clear tape, and a glue gun

14502950_10103326660862250_8054997443782456385_n

I cut out the red metallic paper (make sure the balls fit on the paper, before you glue gun them on).  I cut the plastic and used clear tape to tape it tightly around the balls and circle paper. I used masking tape to tape the circle with balls to the white tank top, and the apron to the top to the white tank top. I glue gunned the silver paper to the apron.

The whole craft took me an hour. She was so impressed when she got home from school. She choose this costume for trick or treating. For someone who can not sew, this is not a bad craft to do. I recommend it.

*Sunday FUNday (Oshawa) (FREE)
12pm-4pm
Oshawa Museum
1450 Simcoe Street South, Lakeview Park
Oshawa, ON

Come down to the Museum on October 2nd from 12 – 4 pm, to celebrate Culture Days at our Sunday FUNday! This month we’ll be making seed wreaths, an example of Victorian handiwork.
Pioneers and Victorians were notorious for not wasting anything! If you had a bountiful harvest and could spare the seeds, why not use them to make a decorative wreath? Tour the Museum and look for other examples of recycling and reuse. They’re everywhere!
This event is free for all ages, while supplies last.
