Contest: Win a Nintendo NES Classic
Contest: Win a Nintendo NES Classic

I have been waiting 2 months to get my hands on an Nintendo NES Classic to giveaway. I finally found a very nice lady who sold me one!

So finally a lucky family is going to WIN a Nintendo NES Classic System. All I ask is that you will keep it for your family or gift it as a gift and not resell it for money. Let’s face it. If you are like me, you probably want it for yourself to play and pretend it’s for your kids.

Whether it’s for your or your kids (wink wink) I hope you will enjoy the 30 games it comes with!

GTA Sportsplex Review (My Son’s Birthday)
GTA Sportsplex Review (My Son’s Birthday)

My son Bentley had just celebrated his 5th birthday at The Vaughan Sportsplex II located in Maple.

Bentley had the best time. He was so tired from playing that he fell asleep and had a nice long nap that afternoon.

We had 23 kids come to the party. We invited only the SK boys in his class, his cousins, and a few of my friend’s kids who are his age.

We had two staff help us with the party. They were great to deal with.

WHAT WE DID
1) JUMPLEX & CLIMBPLEX
Included in this area:
•Giant trampolines

thumbnail_img_2776

•Rock climbing

thumbnail_img_2778
•Rope swings into foam blocks
•Rope climb and zip line (better for kids 9+)

thumbnail_img_2779

2) SOCCER
Use of the large indoor soccer field with soccer balls.
thumbnail_img_2777

What The Party Included
•5 Large Pizza
•5 Pitchers of Pop
We recommend bringing bottles of water for the children and bring sharpies to label them.
We also brought juice boxes, chips, and a cake for the kids.

thumbnail_img_2780

Why We Loved It
1) It’s so much fun!
The kids were running around having the best time. It even looks like fun for the adults. Ask my Husband and Brother-in-law who climbed the rock wall.

2) Tons of space
The facility is so large. We took the party area upstairs. It had an insane amount of room and I had 22 kids and their parents. There was a fridge and sink area. I was able to keep the cake cold.

thumbnail_img_2775

3) Keep’s the kids moving
The kids were so active, Jumping, running, and climbing. Every kid was sweating, which tells me they got lots of exercise.

Other Party Activities They Offer:
1) Nerf Tag
2) Bubble Soccer
3) Jumping Castle
4) Sports
5) Drone Racing
6) Archery Tag
7) Martial Arts

We had lots of positive feed back from the kids and the parents. Most importantly Bentley had a great time.

I would recommend The Vaughan Sportsplex II to have your child’s birthday party.

Children under 2 years of age are considered free for access to the water park and lodging, but they are considered occupants in the suite. When setting up a reservation online, we require the number of children under 2 to be listed.

Things To Do At Home During The Holiday Break!

**FREE DIY ACTIVITIES**
1) ALPHABET SCAVENGER HUNT:
Write the alphabet on a piece of paper. One letter per line. Have the kids run around the house and have them find an item that starts with that letter. (Ie. A=apple, B=bike, C=couch). For smaller kids who are learning their sounds, you can write the words for them.

2) CARD BOARD PLAY HOUSE:
Take a trip to No Frills and pick up some cardboard boxes. Use strong duct tape and a pair of scissors to create a play house. If your kids are older, you can also get them to take markers or paint and decorate the house.

3) HOST A MOVIE DAY:
Turn on the fire (if you have). Bust out the warm blankets, make some popcorn and have a movie marathon. Maybe all Christmas Movies or a theme about Animals… Dim the lights, and you’ve got movie time!

4) CREATE A PLAY:
Get your children to put on costumes, practice, and put on a show for you. You can get older kids to make their own props.

5) BUILD AN INDOOR FORT:
Give the kids some blankets and pillows and let them build a fort or tent. Let them have a picnic lunch or dinner in there. If it is night time you can add flashlights or electronic candles.

6) TOBOGGANING:
Take out a sled, tube or even a garbage bag and head to a park with a hill. Finish the day off with some hot chocolate.

7) BUILD A SNOW MAN:
Elsa & Anna did it and so can your family! Bundle up your children and give them a carrot for the nose and two small oranges for the eyes. Be creative!

8) VISIT A PET STORE:
Find the largest pet store near you and take the kids for a visit. They may even get a chance to pet the animals.
My kids love going to Big Al’s Aquarium right outside Vaughan Mills Mall. They have tons of fish and reptiles to see. We usually get to hold a lizard when we go.

9) VISIT A BOOK STORE:
If you can resist caving into your children’s toy requests at Indigo, you should take a trip there. You can pick out books together and read to each other. You could also visit your local library. They may have activities going on for the holidays.

10) MAKE YOUR OWN PLAY-DOUGH:
For some easy NON-COOK Play-dough recipes, visit: http://entertainkidsonadime.com/2014/03/26/easy-play-dough-recipes

snail2

11) CHRISTMAS LIGHT NIGHT
Take your children on a drive with popcorn and candy and go to a fun area where there are a lot of Christmas Lights.

12) ICE BUBBLES
Do you have bubbles laying around? When the temperature goes below 0 degrees, blow bubbles and watch them freeze on the wand.

13) COLOURED ICE
Put different colours of food colouring in different cups of water. Pour the each colour in an ice cube tray. Once your ice is frozen, hide them around the backyard and let your kids go find them.

**CHEAP DIY ACTIVITIES**
1) COTTON BALL SNOW FALL:
Buy a bag of cotton balls from the store. Dump them over your kids train table, doll house or figurines. Make it “SNOW”.

2) BAKE:
Buy some ingredients and have your kids help you bake and decorate cookies, cupcakes or a cake. I am not a good baker, so I would just buy the cake mix and the icing pre-made. I am not a Martha Stewart!!!

3) PIZZA MAKING:
Take your kids to the grocery store and buy dough, sauce, cheese and toppings. Have your kids create their own pizzas, bake them, and eat them together!

4) MAKE HOMEMADE HOLIDAY CARDS:
Go to the Dollar Store and buy coloured paper, markers and stickers. Have your kids make cards for their family and friends.

5) MAKE FROZEN INSPIRED CRAFTS:
It took me one trip to the dollar store to create these two Frozen inspired crafts. http://entertainkidsonadime.com/2014/06/02/frozen-crafts

20140523-010836-4116925

6) MAKE A DEEJAY DANCE PARTY:
Go to the dollar store and get glow sticks! Dress your kids in light colours. Close the blinds and the lights and activate their glow sticks. Put on their favourite songs and have them dance. This one is good when they have friends come over.

7) PUZZLE DAY:
Go to the dollar store and buy age appropriate puzzles for your kids. Have everyone sit together and work on them.

8) SNOW ART:
Buy spray bottles, and paint or food colouring from the dollar store. Fill the bottles with water and paint. Let the children colour the snow.

9) INDOOR CAMP OUT:
Put chairs together and cover them with blankets to create a tent. Make hot dogs and smores and have your kids eat them in the tent. Sing camp songs by the imaginary fire.

10) TREASURE HUNT:
Create a Map of your home and mark the spots to find. Hide small loose change around the house. Have the kids find the change (the “treasures”) and have them put the money in their piggy banks.

11) VISIT A FIRE STATION OR AMBULANCE STATION
Go buy some coffee and donuts and take the kids over to your local station. In exchange for the treats, they just may give your children a tour.
