Culture Days raises the awareness, accessibility, participation and engagement of Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their communities. With the support of volunteer groups at the national, provincial and local levels, hundreds of thousands of artists, cultural workers, organizations and groups, volunteers and supporters self-mobilize to host free participatory public activities that take place in hundreds of cities and towns throughout the country over the last weekend of September each year.

The 6th annual Culture Days weekend will take place September 25, 26 and 27, 2015, and will feature thousands of free, hands-on, interactive activities that invite the public to participate “behind-the-scenes,” to discover the world of artists, creators, historians, architects, curators, designers and other creative people in their communities.

With thousands of activities registered at culturedays.ca, Culture Days drives a multi-level national communications and public relations campaign designed to inspire and catalyze greater public participation in the arts and cultural life of our communities. A variety of free, useful Tips and Tools are available to support activity organizers throughout their process of planning, promoting, hosting and sharing their Culture Days experiences.

Cupcake Party Ideas

Post sponsored by: Creative Bag.

Are you looking to host a fun kids’ play date or a birthday party for your child?
I invited some kids over and had a cupcake party in my backyard. All of the kids had a great time. I purchased a lot of the items from Creative Bag.
Check out why it was a neighbourhood hit.

*WHAT YOU NEED
*Items From Creative Bag:
Large printed basket box
Cupcake liners
Individual cupcake plastic to go containers
4 oz mason jars with lids (I used 4)
4 Mini plastic scoopers
Different colour tissue paper (I used red, green, and blue)

*Items From The Grocery Store:
• Food colouring (any colour)
• Plastic spoons
• Paper plates
• Box of white cake mix (makes 24 cupcakes)
• Container of white icing
• Cupcake toppings (I used sprinkle tubes, fruit loops, mini m & ms, gummy bears, and crushed my own kit kat bars)

*DIRECTIONS
• Put together your basket box.
• Take out your tissue paper and fluff it up and place them in sections of your box.
• Fill up your mason jars with toppings and seal them shut.
• Arrange all of the toppings, scoopers, and sprinkle tubes nicely in the basket box.
• Bake the cupcakes (as directed on the cake mix box) in the cupcake liners.
• Set the cupcakes on a tray.
• Pour the container of icing in a bowl and mix in some drops of food colouring to create a colour of your choice.
• Take a paper plate and put on a pile of icing with a plastic spoon.
• I let the kids decorate two cupcakes. One on their plate and one in the container to take home.

Our guests had a great time and enjoyed their dessert.

Hello Everyone! We are now entering the final weekend before we send our Children off to School. This is very bittersweet for me. My 3 year old son Bentley is starting Junior Kindergarten and this is the first time he will be away from me all day. No more afternoon cuddles :(

The Calendar is a little quiet this weekend. This must be because School is starting this week.

Make sure to check out my FREE LIST OF PARKS & FARMS in Ontario! You can entertain your kids all weekend without spending any money!

For those of you that are looking to be crafty this weekend on a dime, you can check out my  SUMMER BUCKET LIST. I have listed 100 things to do with your kids.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and the kids enjoy their first day back!
